Executive director / ems chief 
Chris sermarini, LP

Chief Sermarini began his career as an observer with Lake Jackson EMS in early 2005 and has served the agency in a full-time capacity since 2007. He primarily attended Brazosport College for his EMS education eventually obtaining an associate's degree in Emergency Medical Services. He later attended West Texas A&M University receiving a bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management Administration and a master's degree in business administration (MBA). Chief Sermarini also completed the Basic Peace Officer Course at the University of Houston – Downtown and now serves as a reserve licensed peace officer and tactical paramedic with the City of Lake Jackson.  

 

Chief Sermarini has worked throughout the Houston area, including various EMS agencies, emergency departments, and specialty medical clinics. He has been active and has deployed statewide with the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force serving as an Ambulance Strike Team Leader, Task Force Leader, Staging Manager, and Medical Incident Support member. Chief Sermarini also serves as the agency's primary compliance and privacy officer and as the alternate infection control officer.

 

In Chief Sermarini’s free time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, and loves to travel!

EMS Assistant Chief / Asst. Director
cade bontekoe, EMT-P

Assistant Chief Bontekoe began his career as an EMT with Lake Jackson EMS in 2010. He pursued his EMS education at Brazosport College later obtaining his paramedic certification and a degree in Emergency Medical Services. Asst. Chief Bontekoe also completed his critical care (CCEMT-P) education and has served Lake Jackson EMS as a critical care paramedic since 2013.

 

Asst. Chief Bontekoe started his career early with Galveston Area Ambulance Authority only to later join Lake Jackson EMS. He has been active with the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force serving as an Ambulance Strike Team Leader and Medical Incident Support member for various emergencies and incidents throughout the region. Asst. Chief Bontekoe serves as the agency’s alternate compliance officer and as the primary infection control officer. 

 

In Asst. Chief Bontekoe’s free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, and loves to relish the outdoors!

Marcus l. sims ii, dO, facep

Dr. Marcus Sims II began his career working as an EMT with Lake Jackson, Clute, Central, and Sweeny EMS. Dr. Sims then attended Stephen F. Austin State University obtaining a bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in combined sciences and mathematics. After obtaining his bachelor's degree, he attended the University of North Texas - Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine attaining his Osteopathic Medical Degree. Dr. Sims proceeded to complete an Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center – Houston allowing him to become board certified in Emergency Medicine. 

 

Dr. Sims has worked throughout the greater Houston metroplex. Aside from serving as the Medical Director for Lake Jackson EMS, Dr. Sims serves as the Medical Director at CHI St. Luke’s Health Brazosport Hospital and for the City of Clute EMS. He also serves as the Associate Medical Director at CHI St. Luke’s Health - Sugar Land and is active on the Texas College of Emergency Physicians board of directors.

 

In Dr. Sims’ free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four boys, flying, and fishing.
